Another extract from my video diary 2011

Sunday Jan. 29th 2012
I've finish my new wild orchid video and it's the best I can produce with my limited video equipment. So here's to the warmer and hopefully drier days of the coming Spring and Summer.

Extracts from my video diary 2011

Tues. 24th Jan. 2011.
The weather seems to be always cloudy and often wet so our walks are not as rewarding owing to the very wet conditions under foot. It's at this time of the year that I catch up with my videos and begin the long process of editing them on the "Timeline" with all the functions and transformations using my the editing program "Adobe Elements 7". It's quite a long procedure deciding what shots to use when over the year I've shot around 3 hours of video and this must be edited down into a final  presentable film no longer than 15 minutes which I'm entering in our local film club annual competition. Here is an extract  from my new Orchid Video which I've almost completed.

Earliest ever

Sat.7th Jan.2011
Weather today is blustery with a strong westerly wind and frequent passing showers and a temperature of 6.5c. A quick look around my very wet garden revealed the first crocus of the year, this is the earliest recording in 28 years when I started recording my garden through the seasons.

Earliest opportunity

January 2nd 2012
After two days of wet unsettled weather this morning showed a bit more promise with fleeting patches of sunlight moving across our garden, my wildlife pond was clear but overflowing but the sun came out long enough for me to capture a clump of snowdrops which were almost open compared with the photo a few days ago.
I've always tried to climb up Pendle Hill early in the New Year and today was our first opportunity. It was soon apparent that as we climbed Pendle  several other people had the same idea. Its becoming a local tradition to climb this hill the highest  locally (1,831ft) to walk off all the over indulgences of the festive season.

My wild life pond overflowing across the pebbles

A patch of sunlight on the snowdrops (an optimistic sign of spring)

A steady stream of walkers making their way to the summit

Another photo at the triangulation point, to add to the many others pictured at the same point

Red adds a bit of depth to the picture

Happy New Year from Lancashire

1st Jan.2012
The mild wet weather continued to the end of the year but nobody's spirits were dampened has we all enjoyed the new years party at Joe and Pat's they're great hosts and we all thank them for what has become a New Year's Eve tradition.
So we wish everybody a Happy New Year from a very wet Lancashire and hope the weather dries up a bit for another year of walks around our local countryside.

A toast to you all from Lancashire.
